Community Update: Piper Arms Pub Shooting and Project Dodger

Dear Friends and Neighbours,

Thank you to everyone who has reached out with concerns about community safety in the wake of recent violent incidents. It is crucial that we come together to support those affected and work towards a safer Scarborough.

Scarborough Pub Shooting Update

On March 7, 2025, a tragic shooting occurred at Piper Arms Pub near Scarborough Town Centre. Three masked gunmen entered the establishment around 10:40 p.m., indiscriminately opening fire on patrons. Twelve individuals sustained injuries; seven were directly hit by gunfire, while others were injured by flying glass. Fortunately, none of the injuries were life-threatening. The assailants fled the scene in a silver vehicle and remain at large.

How You Can Help

Toronto Police are actively investigating this crime, and they need the community's support. If you have any information, no matter how small, please contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.222tips.com. Tips that lead to arrests may be eligible for a cash reward.

Project Dodger: Addressing Organized Crime and Gun Violence

While the Scarborough shooting remains under investigation and there is no motive known, the police have been actively working to ensure community safety. A day after the Piper Arms shooting, two men were arrested in Pickering for allegedly plotting a targeted attack, with one having ties to the tow truck industry.

To combat organized crime and violence across Toronto, including the tow truck industry’s criminal elements, the Toronto Police Service launched Project Dodger in January 2025. This initiative aims to enhance public safety by deploying plainclothes and uniformed officers to monitor and prevent violent activity. The project focuses on illegal firearm possession, investigating violent disputes, and improving regulatory oversight to prevent further crimes in our communities.
