Emergency Shelter & Central Intake
About
Shelters provide temporary accommodation and related support services that assist people to move into housing. All locations are staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and provide wrap-around supports, including:
meals and laundry
access to harm reduction and mental and physical health supports
counsellors/case managers to develop permanent housing plans
assessments and referrals to other community services, as needed
All shelters must meet Toronto Shelter Standards.
Some programs are not listed to support the confidentiality of people staying at the sites (e.g. sites that serve people who have experienced intimate partner violence). The City also has a number of transitional shelter programs that provide required, specialized programming and can be accessed by eligible individuals and families experiencing homelessness by referral only. These programs are also not listed.
